The TWU Presidents Council met in Washington this week with the TWU Intl. Leaders to discuss and prepare for negotiations for a Joint Bargaining Agreement. We will be making side by side comparisons of the TWU CBA's and IAM CBA's to help establish a JCBA. There will be contract proposals taken from the membership to also establish the JCBA. The IAM/TWU joint negotiations with AA can't take place until the Association is approved by the National Mediation Board.
The IAM took the position that they would not enter into joint negotiations with the TWU until they had a new ratified contract. The TWU supported the IAM during their 9 months of negotiations with AA for a stand alone contract.
The disputes regarding the Association will be settled thru the processes set in the joint agreement. The Presidents sent a letter to the IAM President and other IAM Officials regarding the undermining of the TWU International.
The IAM Intl. President Thomas Buffenbarger has sent a response to meet with TWU Intl. President Harry Lombardo to discuss the matters concerning the Association.
